Why would you ever want to rollover your 401K into an IRA? It seems like doing so would essentially prevent you from successfully being able to do a IRA to Backdoor Roth IRA conversion due to the pro-rata rule. Am I missing something? Wouldn’t you always want to just rollover your old 401Ks to your new 401K?

I have a final round at another firm on Monday (fastest they can do) that I would prefer, both because of the work and the pay. I had a behavioral interview with a manager from another team and a case study with the hiring manager. They both took notes as I gave my answers but the first manager was very disinterested from the get go and was distracted as he kept looking away from the screen.
