If you know the above to be true then I'd go to HR with your story now and ask how they recommend you proceed. Make sure your partner leaders know as well. If you didn't do anything you should be safe. Document all though!
OP, are you kidding when you speak of chances? You already gave her a few. This is a race to HR. Whoever gets there first, makes a better, untainted case. Why are you hesitating? The innocent have nothing to hide
Need more deets
Hahaha...Alleged* criminals. But maybe I'm just sensitive to allegations right now 😂
I know of one example at KPMG in which someone went to HR over an issue, HR told a partner who then told the people for which the complaint was filed. One those persons immediately filed a complaint against the person who filed the original complaint. Retaliation was raised and HR said they didn't see anything wrong. The person who filed the original complaint was ultimately fired. First doesn't mean you win. Go to the partner if at KPMG.
Go to hr. She sounds crazy if what you say is true. Bury her.
This sounds a bit too ridiculous to believe. If you're a professional it's a non-issue. Straight to HR, don't pass go, don't collect $200. Otherwise, I question your judgement, or the presentation of the facts.
AS1, read OPs post again. Clearly this is beyond rumors if she's going around openly making statements. Op clearly has documented reasons to go HR alone for her performance. This is op's career and she stated she won't leave until he's fired. No reason to not believe OP at this point. Why don't you read closer? 😂😂😂 Good luck with that.
Assurance staff 1 - you’re so naive, sorry. Ever heard of slander? Hearing something second hand actually makes it worse for her.
Thanks for the update! Glad it worked out
Hooray!! One of these threads finally got a conclusion!! Props to the OP!
Can you provide any more detail?
Had this happen to me recently. Not to this extent but sounds similar. I reached out to HR on my own and explained what was going on.
What firm? If KPMG, I'd go to a partner instead of HR.
EY10 - Why did you just assume OP's gender? They never said if they were male or female. You're just assuming that they are male because the staff is female and claiming sexual harassment? Why don't you read closer? *DJ Khaled voice* "You played yoself!"
Op.. it is nice that you don't want to ruin her career, but dont let her ruin yours. In truth she is doing damage to herself. She put herself in that position even though you tried to help. You can not help someone that does not want to be helped.
Go to management before she does. They’ll can her right away.
PS I personally would not race to HR. Would share with at least one of my bosses (engagement partner or sr. manager so they are aware of the team dynamics and look for opportunities to roll her off). And would keep any record/evidence of her behavior in case it would be needed in the future. Just not worth the effort to open that can of worms if it ended up as just talk.
James even if your firm let you go we'll keep you around on fishbowl. Please update us soon.
Thanks everyone for all the great advice! I'll have an update for you soon
She is trying to make a scene. If you go to HR first you'll let her manipulate you into looking like a fool and appearing incapable of handling your own problems. The more you can just stay away from her the better. Think about it from the other way around...if you go to HR first, it'll make you look like you're covering somehow. You got this info second hand. Until she directly confronts you with allegations you should continue going about your business. I've dealt with this when I was in the Army. Same situation. Let her go to HR then dig her own grave. Unless you did harass her, then you deserve whatever is coming your way. :)
EY10 - Not actually a staff and definitely not in assurance. But, you attempting to demean me based on my assumed rank is laughable. When all else fails lash out and belittle those with opinions different from your own. I have first-hand experience with what OP is going through. I know how they feel. Just trying to help, not trigger some random person I've never met.
