Hey, I want to ask the overall question of what roles you think are most susceptible to layoffs in the next few years? I want to know if I should position myself for any changes.

The best way to keep yourself safe from layoffs, regardless of position, is stay on top and even ahead of how AI is being applied to your position. Master those changes. The jobs still left will be going to people who understand how to utilize and babysit the AI.

Warehouse workers are often the first to be laid off when businesses need to cut costs. This is because their jobs can be easily automated.

I’m fairly new here but in my experience, it’s been the clerks and analysts getting laid off, resourced, or packaged out.

Anything that is on the bench. Take whatever job you can get.

Looking for respectful ways to manage helping people in need of a job or seeking mentorship. I get 3-4 requests a week from mutual contacts asking if I can connect with a former colleague (always broad). Typically the ask is a 30-45 min call. I’ve been laid off, I know how hard a time it is, but equally am working long hours, parenting and want to reserve time for those I know. How do others manage these extra calls into their weeks?

The week of my wedding, my husband (PL SQL Developer 4 yoe) was laid off. That was a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I'm still bringing money in as a software engineer, but I'm looking for advice on how to support a partner who has been laid off. Ultimately I think we will be ok, but I know he's hurting / stressed / and could use a supportive partner.

Subs! Internal subbing is draining the life out of teachers. The sub schedule comes out at the last minute bc of so many teacher absences. We’re all waiting for next sub. Teachers are late for their own classes. Students are in chaos with rotating subs. We pay $100 a day. Is the Solution in plain sight?
