It’s definitely not too late. I would say the earlier you try and make the switch the better but make sure you are past the 1 year mark.
Makes sense. Thanks a lot. Initially thought to wait for senior, but makes sense not to lose too much technical knowledge

Not the same situation but similar-ish background. At 1 YOE, you should be absolutely fine.
My recommendation would be to add a side project or two under your belt before jumping into recruiting (if you decide to pivot).
You can also spin your strategy experience as something that can help distinguish you from other DS candidates (Can see the bigger picture, strong communicator, srakeholder mgmt, etc.)
Thanks for the advice. I have been thinking about staying for another year and try to get senior, but unsure how well I can leverage that to a new role, I guess I will be “starting over” either way. And for my personal well being I think I need to try and get out sooner than later, unfortunately

Sounds like an interesting background for sure. You’re talking about data sci roles specifically or roles at ai companies
Generally I would like to move away from the consulting industry to somewhere I can use my educational experience, so no requirements on AI companies per se, it could be a data scientist role at Walmart as good as any, if you catch my point.
You really don’t have as much knowledge as you’d think at 1YOE. I mean you could even leave off your current job off your resume and still enter DS
Umm.. yeah, but don’t do that though lol. Follow K1s advice and add some side projects related to data science even if it’s not billable. Just get it on your resume.
Also at EYP and looking to pivot into data analyst and data science roles but sucks that over the last 1.5 years I’ve had very little technical and data centric experience
That’s the same situation. I contemplated waiting for Senior before exiting but I think that might be a negative and will lose too much technical knowledge. I hope a year or so can be seen as “passable” time
