Most small law firms in Austin (HCOL) pay around $20/hour I believe. Bay Area might be a little higher, but you are solo. Most solos don’t ever take interns, or at least not to my knowledge.
Pay something fair, but let the intern know that you’re there to teach them and to be a mentor. That’s worth more what you could pay any intern.
Thank you!
I got 0 back in the day.. and it was a major tech company in the bay!
Thanks! I got paid but very minimally. It’s been so long though
$25 minimum imo as a student
Thanks!
I got nothing and didn’t care about pay as I wanted the knowledge more than anything. You will spend your time training which will take away from your day. If you must pay, I would suggest $16 per hour. They are getting what no college or law school can give.
Thanks!
Bay Area small firm practitioner here. I just hired a part-time clerk. 2023 college grad. I’m paying them $20/hr. To me, $25/hr. seems light for a 3L. You may want to check with the school’s career services office to get a better sense of it. If you do, I will be curious to hear what they say.
I was a paralegal full-time in my second and third year of law school (was able to stack my classes to do nighttime) and was paid $25/hr. This was 2 years ago. I did get a raise towards the end of the first year to $30/hr
$30 minimum
No problem. For reference, my mentee (a senior in undergrad) was recently offered a part time clerk position for $35 in LA.
Ask the school's recruiting department what they are seeing for this type of role.
