I have received offer from Shell and SAP labs is in final stage salary discussion. Shell is offering 6 lacs more than @SAP labs. I have tried to negotiate a lot from SAP but they are not ready. They are putting conditions like give your full commitment to join then only we'll release offer letter. I am currently looking for work life balance with growth. Should I join @SAP considering its a Product based and good WLB and learning? Teck Stack - Java/Micro-services/cloud YOE - 11yrs

If you’re already a senior and you’re trying to eventually move into FP&A, I think you should just try to make the jump now. Especially with how the market is, it’s probably relatively easy to make the transition now than when you’re a Manager+ coming from audit.
DT S1 in HCOL, base salary $76
Not good WL balance…
WLB in FS can’t be any better lol. Plus WLB exits for FS are worse than audit exits I think.
If your end goal is FP&A why don't you apply for senior financial analyst roles? If you want to be a controller I'd say do audit. Audit generally doesn't translate into FP&A, as there is little accounting and more forecasting. Ive seen it happen but they are different skills
@EY1 & D2 My fear is that employers will see I have a background in partnership tax and laugh. I definitely want to upskill/learn forecasting.. but I guess it can’t hurt to just apply and see what happens.
I can’t help since I have never worked in tax but I’m sure there are things, like D2 said, that are transferable. You just have to connect the dots for them to make them realize you have some transferable skills. I also think you’d be surprised how much they’d value someone that can just power through the public accounting life and not worry as much about specific skills, which can be learned. Also, the longer you wait the more difficult it will be to make the jump since skills will probably be less transferable.
