Accepted an offer for 150k with another b4 (currently at D) with 4 YOE. I should be happy and jumping with this number but being an 1st gen immigrant, this number is too unreal/scary to me. Have a big interview tomorrow. The question I dread the most is about why you’re looking for a new job. The honest answer is that there isn’t enough work to go around at my agency and I want to get ahead of the inevitable layoffs. What’s the best way to tell them this? I’m four months into my job and I got put onto a PIP. I worked so hard to break into IB, put up all the hours and even working 2am nights for weeks, learned a ton, and improved a lot along the way as the sole analyst yet this happens. I’m extra worried because it doesn’t seem there’s IB analyst positions out there. Im really hoping come January more positions come up but I’m just praying they don’t fire me until then. He took resume to HR actual and said I’d hear from them. Haven’t heard anything week or so later.

Haven’t texted VP much as I don’t want to be creeper but really interested. Not sure how to engage at this point. At some level it seemed like a home run.

I'm at a smaller MM bank. My original goal was to start here and hustle through into a BB, but I wasn't expecting to really like the people (my team, my direct seniors). I think the work we do probably wouldn't differ a crazy amount (we close deals, just smaller of course) and I'm wondering if I really have a reason to try to move into a bigger bank.
