Part of my consideration is the assumption that WLB is likely to be better than at McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, or Bain & Company. Could any of you fellow European fishies shed some light on the validity of this assumption? Sharing experiences would be highly appreciated.

I used to work in M&A at Deloitte. You are usually business analyst for 2 years, then consultant for 2 years, followed by senior consultant for 2 years. Often, you would be able to skip one of your (senior) consultant years. So would say 5-6 years when starting as university hire. If you start as senior consultant, it should be only 2 years.
Between 4-6 years. 4 is exceptional, 5 is doing good and 6 would be on par
I believe P1 speaks about total years of experience. I made manager with just under 5 yoe and I was rather fast. Usually you would be 3-4 years on SC level.
