I definitely prefer brand side. I don't see the need to be living like a coked out ad man from the 20th century and agencies feel like they have not moved on from that kind of frantic lifestyle. Brandside is much more my pace, and I think the benefits and salary are better anyway. It may not come with the same sort of big name attractions but I don't really care about that anyway
Yeah for sure. I think most people don't live for work like they did 20+ years ago (maybe 2008 was the big turn around?). The jig is up with people believing work will make their lives feel complete or meaningful (thats how it feels to me anyway). I'd rather have a good WLB and do interesting things outside of work
It depends on the experience you are after. Agency is a good opportunity to work across different accounts, brands, and teams. It’s helpful to build experience quickly. Brand side is usually a more focused remit on one brand so you can fully immerse and contribute without being pulled from one to another. Brand side is only good if you like and relate to the brand, otherwise all your time is spent working on something you are not connected to.
Went from agency to brand here. Wlb is definitely better and compensation seems to be more “competitive” versus what an agency can offer. Titles are sometimes different tho on brand vs agency. Growth might be slower but there’s other stuff put in place where you might not feel the need to be promoted in a year or two based on how comp is evaluated (I never got a compensation eval on agency side unless promoted)
Feels more stable. Def better paid. WLB is better for most but varies. I’m worked to the bone, but it’s still better than agencies imo. The money makes it feel a little more justified.
Everything is better brand side.
