No one has to know. Say it was covid. Get a new job ASAP and never speak of it and it will never be brought up again. You’re lucky in a way that it’s happening now when covid is a great blanket excuse.
I think you could probably use COVID as an explanation though (i.e. taking care of family, self, etc.). It may make you less likely to get the job as someone who doesn’t have this tagged to their application; however, if you are the right fit - I could easily see this being overlooked.
Ray Dalio punched his boss, got fired later. Jamie Dimon was fired too. Life happens, move on!
Wondering the same - idk how you would recover
Absolutely not career suicide, just a notification you are probably in the wrong line of work and need to find your true calling
Deloitte doesn’t disclose employment history information if the new company did a background check. They will verify employment, but not the reason why the person is no longer with Deloitte.
If you're working for a real corporation not some crazy family firm it will never come out. They will only verify your dates of employment and maybe your title if requested. Hell any real corporation outsources this function to some kind of 1-800-HR service that only works off dates in it's database. A big firm fires or lays offs thousands of employees every year. They're not in the lawsuit business!
Tell your friends and co-workers nothing though those guys talk s*** to everybody. Do not confide.
Let’s see...
I was fired from IBM as part of their massive layoffs. Hired 3 weeks later with a 40% comp increase at a T2.
I was given the option to resign or be fired 1 year in as my partner was having marital issues which he took out of my performance review.
It toom a lot of searching bit I went to google, where I now clear 300k a year working 35 hours a week in MCOL area.
So no.
Oof that’s rough. Resigning would probably have given me more peace of mind when applying to other jobs though.
It depends if your new company asks if you are eligible for rehire.
