Infosys hey fishes , kindly help me on this. I had my salary discussion 3 weeks back with infosys HR offered 50% +1.2L joining + pwfh. I have requested for 60% +1.2L joining bonus + pwfh and hr told me She will send for approval to see and she said it might take a week Max to get back. But it's been 3 week I got a call from hiring hr for screenshoot interview. Upon checking my approval for 60% is still waiting to be approved. Any idea what's happening. How long can I wait ?

Bring that ego down some lmao. Was he hired for his excel skills? Too many people build arrogance when they learn one skill that someone with more experience than them may not have

Agree. Plenty of leaders who have learned tech from me. I have gained knowledge from them on other levels.

You were sifting through data and placing purchase orders and doing the grunt work on excel while he was sourcing and setting up the procurement strategy. As an example.
You placed 10,000 POs and learnt excel. He saved $10M and didn’t learn excel

Makes sense, work with your lead to make excel assessment (or assessment of aptitude to learn excel) a part of the hiring process. It has nothing to do with yoe and it may be perceived as ageist

I just learned the replace all function on excel like a month ago 😬
A shortcut to replace all of your bad ideas with good ideas.
That’s what I use it for anyways.

Sounds like some people with lots of YOE and not much skill got hurt with OP’s comment. Lmao
Exactly

Here, let me show you something in photoshop
So you taught them a skill today great, what does it have to do with competency in a procurement job?
Not at all. The guy is a class act and I have the utmost respect for him but I just know I’m losing out on opportunities to guys like him due the simple virtue that they’ve been alive longer than me

The difference is your little excel hack can be learned by anyone with Google. His 8 YOE cannot. Sounds like your ego is a little too big.

I mean, it sounds like it was part of their job to know how to find stuff on Excel. They had 8 years to find a better way rather than just manually looking it up. It literally doesn’t take 8 minutes to even google how to do it but they couldn’t do it. Just goes to show, YOE doesn’t always equate to skill. And it’s not just knowledge of that specific Excel function that we’re talking about, it’s the skill to figure things by yourself and solve problems and get better at your job.
And yeah, I don’t know everything about Excel, but I know enough to do my job quite well.
Bro we didn't even need college for these jobs, who cares about your yoe

I'm getting an India vibe?
From experience, Indian colleagues are very very woefully misguided and completely obsessed with YOE as a meaningful tell-all metric.
Nope, Canadian. I will admit YOE is a tried and true quantitative metric but doesn’t tell the whole story. I got promoted twice in 18 months at my job but I can’t make a lateral move to a different company because I don’t meet their arbitrary YOE requirement. The quality of work is there, I can do the job fine (at the very worst), I just don’t have the YOE and I lose out to people like CTRL+F dude who cruised in their position
