How do I stop procrastinating until the deadline panic kicks in? That adrenaline rush is the only way I get things done. It's effective but exhausting.

One thing I do is tackle the hardest task first thing in the morning when I have more brain power.

“Eat the Frog” first.

Also, daily to do list.

I start on the easiest task to get myself going and then when I’m in work mode, switch to the hardest one while I’ve got the motivation

You can also try the pomodoro method - 20 mins on, 5 mins off. If 20 is too long, start with 10. Make sure you put your phone in a drawer so it’s not a temptation

I do both the things you mentioned and find them super useful - I have even gone down to 5 minutes for the first pomodoro so that I will actually start it.

Good ideas here.

Also Mini deadlines. Set up an accountability system to hold yourself to them.

For instance, big report is due next Friday - I’ll email you an outline on Monday and let’s meet briefly to discuss the draft Wednesday …

I've recently tried waking up early and doing things first thing in the morning. It's helped, but definitely get a little crabby around 4 in the afternoon. 😀

I once was a CISA… I have no IT background, no IT degrees (2 ACCT degrees tho); never did/saw a shred of an IT audit/assurance work/client/OTJ training of any kind. Forced by employer to choose CISA vs CPA, CISA was way more feasible at the time. I passed 1st try. My firm had zero IT work. So all my CPE reqs lapsed, and my cert expired w/ zero resume material to show for it. I see IT Auditors paid WAY more. I’d love that! I’d re-sit. But idk my head from my ass about practical application.

My psychiatrist today revealed to me that I may have ADHD, still a hypothesis that he is still exploring but from my personal experiences and discussions with therapist, it seems likely.

One example of personal experience is my ongoing prep for case studies as I'm interviewing with a number of firms. I do struggle to keep focus and generally take a bit longer to finish them, specifically the structuring of the case. Does anybody else feel the same way and any recommendations to overcome this?

Hello All - I struggle with time management. I take medication but I have no idea whether a task will take 40 mins or 4 hours. Because of this, I over commit and under deliver. Also, having been on the receiving end of criticism, over time I have developed a perfectionist streak. I won't turn it in if it is good enough. How do you break out of this habit?
