How do you know when it's time to move on from consulting?

I'm a consultant at a T2 with ~2.5 YOE and have done very well so far / am close to a big promotion. However, I don't love the content / intensity of my recent projects. Wondering if I should leave after the promo or stick it out for longer

When you get a better offer. You are not serving time or doing a military tour. I don’t understand why this question keeps coming up , lol

Consultants thinking that there is an auspicious time when all consultants must exit or there will be some divine voice telling me to do so, is so weird

I was in the same boat as you. Didn’t love the work, but did well enough.

I’d seriously give some thought over what you personally would find fulfilling while still meeting your income goals.

In this game, people can tell when you aren’t loving it. You can only get so far pretending before people notice, and when they do its game over in short order

This was me. I spent around 7 months heavily contemplating and wish I made the jump sooner tbh. Those 7 months were instrumental in figuring out my next steps as I really got to think about my goals long-term and find a role in line with them. Best of luck mate. Did 5 years in consulting and now at JPMorgan. Happy to share more over DM

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?

LinkedIn is a garbage app where I can’t even post my opinion or experience because it will go against the mainstream ideologies. If I even “like” a post then I worry that my peers and managers see what I like and suddenly I need inclusivity training. What a load of shit! You can’t be who you truly are on that app. Which is why I like fishbowl so much, the anonymity is a game changer. If LinkedIn was a anonymous, we’d see a lot more support for Kanye and a lot less LGBQT material. Bet!

I joined pwc last month, and absolutely hating it here. Each weekend has been working, 12-15 hours work day is minimum expectation. And there's extreme hierarchy, where even after you spend 24 hours working on something, the director decides he wants something completely different and you delete and restart. Anyone who filed 131/765/485 last year in October with BAL/D and got EAD or GC?

I came to US on an L1b in 2018 and switched to H1b in 2021 Oct. Current 797/visa expiry is stated as July 2023, by which I would have spent 1.5 years on H1b visa (and 3.5 years on L1b before that). During h1b extension , will I get another 4.5 years of extension? How does extension work when u switch visas?

Child care when traveling for work should be expensable… also dog boarding… I cannot get over how things like first class seats and any meals for higher ups, dry cleaning, ubers/lyfts over cheaper options, etc. all are expensable but essential costs you need to foot when traveling like child care and dog boarding are not expensable. I wish we had a per diem like allotment rather than actual costs so we could use money left over if we choose cheaper options so we could use the money we save
