Put a meeting on your managers calendar or ask them to call you.

like

This! Def tell them verbally before sending the resignation letter via email (but have the letter ready to send right after ur convo)

like

Put a 10 minute "quick check in" on their calendar, and they'll know exactly what's coming.

like

I did almost this exact thing.
I told them before the meeting happened with the invite.

I used quotations and named the meeting “Let me know if you have 15 minutes to chat real quick” and then in the notes of the meeting, I used this emoji: 😬

They knew immediately.

like

Call them. Do not send an email. And then follow the call up with an email to HR with your boss cc’d as your formal resignation, with a date listed as your last day.

like

Call and have a video chat to tell them, then follow up with an official resignation email and two weeks notice

like

Send a resignation letter stating 2 week notice and attach that to a meeting with hr and your manager to discuss next steps for a seamless transition.

funnylike

Calling someone a kid…def would not want to talk face to face first with that condescending attitude. Older millennial perspective here. Don’t see how cameras that are always off is class and zoom invites get rescheduled or people can’t show up with other obligations. Odds of keeping in touch on a regular after leaving are slim when there are new priorities.

funny

Don't just send an email, please. Let your manager know first with a call face-to-face. Some managers might tell you to take specific steps they want you to follow but if not, let them know your next steps like sending a formal email to HR and cc'ing them etc.

like

I asked my boss if he had a few mins to chat, video called him and told him I needed to give my 2 weeks notice as I had accepted a position elsewhere. Pretty straightforward, ask them for any next steps needed from you (likely need to send a formal resignation letter to HR w/ boss copied)

likehelpful

I just did this last week. I IM'D my manager letting her know I needed to chat and could schedule a meeting. We ended up talking pretty much immediately. After I gave her the news, I followed up with an official resignation letter email with my final day.

You don't want to burn bridges and there really isn't anyway to know how someone's going to take your news. If you just send a letter without a conversation, it could leave a bad taste in their mouth. Why take the chance?

like

We just had someone leave through email and let me tell you, she will not be welcome back. She wasn’t a bad employee but her immaturity showed through some times, and this is the most immature move you can make. Just really solidified how we felt.

like

I just did this. I called my boss on her cell phone when I knew it was typically a good time for her (while she was driving) and thanked her for everything but told her I had news, etc. Then the next morning I sent her an email with the resignation as well. Went very smoothly then I called my other closest coworkers to tell them.

like

Definitely schedule a 1 on 1 with your boss. Explain to them that you had an offer that you couldn’t refuse and offer to do what you can to make for a smooth transition. THEN send the resignation letter to hr

like

I think it depends on your relationship with your boss and the company. I will say I’ve had people just email formal notice, and that’s perfectly fine however I always appreciate the ones who just ask if I have a minute to talk then tell me face to face. Even virtually it’s nice to be able to get feedback, wish them well, and talk about next steps person to person. Then of course they send the formal email to HR as well.

Again it depends on the procedures of your company and your relationship with your boss but this is my perspective from the receiving end.

Just want your suggestion on this to help me decide.

I've not worked on the actual development of ETL batches till now but I want to learn and grow gradually.

What kind of organisation would be best for me considering my mental health as well because I take too much stress ?

Thanks 🙏
