2. Also certain practice areas have more bench time than others
3. actively campaigning to get on projects that start a week or two later then you roll off may help

If you're using the bench as vacation and not BD work or training, you're doing it wrong.
No I’m not. A career is marathon not a sprint. It’s ok to slow down and enjoy the breaks when you get them.
Right now every partner I know is having trouble staffing engagements. There will be little to no bench time at least for short term. Gone are the days of months on bench (for now), but our industry is cyclical
^ this a thing? Slalom. Has never happened once ever. Big 4 doesn’t operate like this. There’s always something to do usually.
Happened to me at both EY and KPMG. They get aggressive timelines going expecting a wet signature "any day now", and then it gets bigger down in procurement.
