My experience is that the job market is bad right now. I was laid off from my job earlier this year. Intense competition, also a lot of garbage “jobs” out there (straight commission, churn-and-burn type jobs that have nothing but negative reviews on Glassdoor).
I did some contract work for a guy several months ago who paid me on time once. I had to bug him every other time. Then finally he didn’t pay me at all. He still owes me money but it isn’t enough to get legal matters involved. I’m just moving on.
The job market isn't great. A lot of people who were laid off are still looking, so there's a lot of competition for the jobs that are available. I would think that the Fed starting to make its cuts would cause a pivot back to a more ordinary environment, but it's taking time.
Would you consider this a tech bubble? Tech has had staggering layoffs over the past few years and all-time high valuations.
I have a few open positions and even with a lot of resumes coming in it has been hard to hire due to salary requirements, I see a lot of people that have been laid off recently which makes me some companies were paying over their means to attract candidates. If interest rates continue to trend down or stay flat water will find its level and companies will increase compensation or be left with subpar hires.
What positions do you have open? I'm fairly flexible on salary requirements.
the same- a lot of positions posted, but denial emails sent out and the job reposted ad infinitum. Finally just got a phone screening on a job I applied for a month ago. Currently sitting at 4 total interviews for the last 8 months and easily hundreds of applications.
I was let go the first week in September. Since then I have averaged 2 interviews a week. The companies were not moving very fast but now that it's 4th Qtr I see things moving at a much faster pace. I am confident I will have a job offer, if not multiple, before the end of November. I think it's timing and spending alot of time sending out resumes. I also send apply to 10-15 positions a day and leverage my network where I have connections. I wish you the best and hope you find exactly what you want and need.
