Lol, your hourly wage is pretty bad, all things considered
Nobody is optimizing for hourly wage. If so, we would immediately transition to industry and make similar $ over 40-50 hr weeks
Trying to stay on the ride as long as possible to lock in the higher annual comp
Well, I’m glad to be working 40-50 while making a little less than MBB
Pre-covid average was 50-60, so far from being chained to computer 24/7
Associate, 60-70 hrs/week, with some spikes to 80.

Anecdotally, I think a lot of people are inefficient and inflate hours as well. Even a busy DD will be like 65 at the high end. Weekend work is extremely rare outside of some light Sunday night email maintenance.
light appears in the morning and disappears in the evening while moonlight appears and the email works all the time depending who is the sponser outside the country which you are
Consultant 40-50
This is more realistic. Plenty of studies have been done that show that people simply cannot work these long hours effectively and your productivity drops drastically
Damn I work 10 hours a week
As Analyst/Associate routinely pulled legitimate all nighters (showered at gym and maybe got 30 min nap in car). Not hard to work 80 hrs when working 44 in 2 days.
Moved to other company around Manager and mainly stayed up until 2-3am every night with occasional all-nighter. Routinely got calls on weekend and did weekend work.
At company I helped start for work/life balance. Start work at 7:30, break between 5:30-8pm for family time and usually back at work from 8:30-2am. Occasional weekend mtgs but try to shut it down otherwise.
I’m happy with my life so hard to say it was wasted. Def easier ways to get where I am. God didn’t make me smart, good looking or connected so I made up for it with effort. No drugs and rarely energy drinks. Lots of caffeine.
Anybody asking what you do with the extra hours doesn’t get it. There’s always ways to make projects/clients/yourself better. There were plenty of times I felt it was a waste. There were more times I felt guilty about how much the client was paying which drive me to deliver more.

I have observed anecdotally that it’s not a pyramid as you go up of hours lessening, but just different activities your allocating time toward.

70-90, though recently had 4mo project consistently working 100+
My buddy worked 16 hour days seven days a week for three months. He only ate three meals outside the office for the entire time. Absolutely terrible experience, but by the end the team had built an entire company in a competitive industry from scratch.

Used to do DDs at a big4 and tbh the 70/wk was pretty standard for us and most likely for MBBs. And yes, usually worked past midnight couple times a week with couple hours here and there on weekends.
Moved to industry since and working 40hrs with higher TC.
Helping a general manager manage his P&L
Normally: 50-60 hrs excl commute
wfh: 40-45 hrs work + 20-25 hrs childcare (alternating shifts with SO)
Manager here
Approximately btw 0 and 80h/week
Associate in Nordic office. Before covid 60 hours per week. Now ~80, work starts 7am and mostly ends around midnight. High pace throughout excluding past 10 pm last Friday night where my brain was mush. Not a flex, I absolutely hate it. Eat all my meals in front the screen, talk to my wife for less than 10 min daily during weekdays. This includes daily pushing back on scope. It’s insane and not something I would recommend to anyone. Would switch job immediately if not for covid and upcoming promotion.
SAC - 60-70 hours wfh, 50-60 before
