It's always bullshit, IMO. Amazon actually told me it's their policy to withhold all feedback. (After going 5 rounds with them). A giant F.U.
Most places do not let managers give feedback because you can use it in a lawsuit. Nothing personal.
I always ask and generally get blanket feedback. But omce i received feedback that was super transparent and refreshing. Was a stretch application to begin with and he was clear on where my skill sets matched up nicely but they felt that while i was capable of developing the other skills needed to on the job they just had another candidate with prior experience in those area already.
I have never thought to do that. Interesting.
Echoing Freelance and CD but I always ask anyways. :) Usually not helpful feedback but 1/10 times, what I get back gives me something to work on/review.

Yup, Google said the same thing to me. I have asked after every interview. Typically never get a response
