I just got an offer from EY in London but considering based on what the maternity policy is which doesn’t seem to be spelt out in contract or benefits pdf. Does anyone know a) if there’s a minimum employment period to qualify and b) what the enhanced maternity pay is. I’ve read both 16 weeks and 18 weeks.

If you have a good network of friends/colleagues and a strong portfolio is great. Otherwise is very anxiety inducing and you won’t really make tons os work for your book. I find it super liberating but I also have a 15 year career.

It’s great at times. And stressful also. You don’t always get to enjoy the downtime as you’re chasing payment and looking for the next gig.
I tried it for about half a year earlier in my career. I made roughly the same amount of money in less than half the time but the non-creative side of things made me hate it. I’m not a good bookkeeper.
Network is huge. If you know a lot of people, then there’s always someone who needs something.
Alternatively, you could also be really good at generating business through LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. Talk to long time creative freelancers and almost all of them have some prospecting habits they keep up weekly to keep the project pipeline filled.
It helped teach me to make boundaries with my job, I used to work too much for too little and now every hour I work gets billed.
The money is awesome but after 2.5 years I’m starting to miss the community of an agency. But I’m not sure what I’m missing even exists anymore with everyone remote.
