Microsoft Received some feedback yesterday that I’m “Too smart for the role and they feared that I’d get bored and leave quickly. “ It’s honestly the most confused I’ve ever left a call. Does anyone know what this means? I thought it was a compliment initially but in retrospect it just doesn’t seem very genuine. Have y’all had anyone hit you with this one?

How do I pivot from a broker to any job in tech?
I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

I use them all. Taking off the last two weeks of December was great last year!
Sounds like you might not trust your staff? I don't believe that's something a leader should be proud of. Take time, develop and trust the talent you've hired and coached. Model a good and healthy WLB. It'll be fine. I only get 30 days a year and try to end the year with 0.
This was exactly the direction I was going to go! You must trust your staff or find new staff…you also need to understand corporate America is going to function and be successful with or without you! I take every single hour of my entitled time off, my family, my personal space and my health are all far more important than anything I can ever address in a single email! Take your time!
That sounds like you are taking a pay cut because you're not using the benefits you're entitled to. When I started thinking of it that way, I stopped shaming myself out of my earned time off. Especially because the pressure was all internal and nobody else was making me feel that way. Nor would I ever make anyone else feel that way.
I'm gonna take all of it.I'm tired of worrying about what's not gonna get done, because i'm trying to enjoy life and trying to create my own work life balance. Most of us lived to work instead of work to live. The American dream
I carry over the 40 I banked in 2020 and that’s it! I’ll take a random Tuesday off to plant flowers rather than give back one hour. We can only truly be our best self when we’re able to take time to recharge.
That's setting a bad example as a leader for the employees. That's putting a lot of pressure indirectly on the team because they notice. So, when they want to take PTO, they're going to feel obligated to work while on PTO. Lastly, if it's stressing to take PTO, maybe look inward and find out why, address those shortfalls. Set up an employee or two to take they reins while you are gone. Life is short, let's make it interesting.
My last company I barely took any as I had manager who would make remarks for us taking time off, even for not working weekends. They would say things like, “We have to make sacrifices for this job. Take me for example, I’m sacrificing time with my family this weekend. But you do what you feel is appropriate.” and then give us a look of disgust for taking time off. Thank God I left that place.
All of them every last day!
All of it down to the last hour. Work is only one part of my life and far from the most important part. Stop giving the best part of your life to a company that will lay you off tomorrow if it suits their bottom line. Work hard while you are at work, protect your personal time at all costs.
Averaged 29 days/yr the last 5 years. 2-3 days is wild. Feel bad for you and your family. Hope you’re in the $500K+ salary range for dedicating thag much of your life for work.
All of it! Sometimes I'll use it up on long weekends if don't feel right taking it as a full week
I’m in a leadership position, too, and i feel like taking time off just doubles my work somehow…. But I still take EVERY SINGLE DAY I’m entitled to.
I used to feel this way. But I only get 12 days of PTO a year so I make sure to take them all. However, I am somebody who checks their emails while on vacation. So that’s a different kind of problem.
All of them; they only let us carry so much, anyway. They want us to use them.

We can carry over 80 hours of fto from one year to the next, so I make sure I use enough time that I only have 80 hours in the bank at the end of the year. I really enjoy working for Liberty, but not enough to do it for free
I’m in IT. The FTO policy applies across the enterprise, but you may be right that sales has different a compensation setup
I am going through a similar situation. I don’t take PTO because I get up to 100 emails a day and if I took a 2 week vacation, I’d seriously come back to 1000 emails. I’m not exaggerating either. Plus getting caught up on mail and activities…. The thought of it stresses me out!
I take all of it. To me, not taking PTO is like not taking a chunk of my salary. I can understand it if you’re running your own business perhaps, but otherwise if you’re not able to take time off with your family then something is wrong.
You taking a week off is not going to effect your team unless you are a micromanager and can’t handle it, then it’s on you. Maybe trust your team to deal with any issues that arise or delegate you authority.
I take every single last solitary second of it.
