Hi fishes,
I am planning a switch so was going through some salary data for a software engineer. My ex-senior manager recommended me a website: Growceed.com which helped me a lot in getting clarification about a lot of things but I am in doubt whether the average salaries of software engineer mentioned on Growceed.com really that much in top MNC companies.

Paid parental leave of 3 months is worth 25% of annual base salary. I say base because bonuses are possibly prorated to remove leave time. 100% paid health insurance, if it is good insurance that covers more than just you, might be worth a few thousand dollars.
Option 1 - no brainer
Also - if anything is wrong with baby, or if you struggle with infertility, you will appreciate that better healthcare!!!!
Actually I never thought about that. I’ve been operating under the assumption of “normality”. Thnx , food for thought
15k after tax is nothing in your monthly/biweekly salary compared to 3 months of parental leave. What about insurance? Have you done the math on that 30% difference in the insurance for the entire family?
Glad to hear! Good luck! 🎉
Option 1 for sure. You'll make that up in just medical bills
Just healthcare cost will cover the 15k difference
Option 1
Not sure your childcare plans, but we also saved on delaying daycare costs because of parental leave. Plus it’s time you’ll never get back, and you won’t regret having that time with your new baby.
Didn’t factor in the delaying childcare part. Every comment makes the difference even much more glaring.
Option 1 and it’s not even close IMO
Option 1 for sure
Option 1 💯
Non financial the time you spend with your kid can you really put a price tag on that. You’ll never get that opportunity to leave everything else to the side to focus on that bonding time with your kid. This is what has kept me put at current job that offers 16 weeks because your life completely changes once you welcome a little one into the world.
Option 2 for long term. 1 for short. How many years might you stay?
I’ll stay minimum 3 years all things being equal.
Option 1. I m having a second kid shortly and will move from current job to one that has better parent support
I think the purely monetary value of option 1 is probably higher, all things considered.
That aside, I’d be very hesitant to work for any company that doesn’t give some paternity leave in 2024
