HR and leadership denied my request for our company’s cell phone reimbursement ($60, but it’s still something) because they came to a conclusion that those who aren’t directors don’t use their phone enough for work purposes to warrant it. So I’m about to delete my work email, Zoom, Slack, etc. from my phone. Guess if they need to get ahold of me, they have to wait until I get on my computer.

Absolutely. I'd go a step further and say no work texts or calls either. Companies have effectively passed all kinds of costs onto their employees this year - higher electric bills due to wfh, real estate costs (which you pay by having less usable space in your house/apartment by making part of it a workspace), etc. If they won't pay for your phone, don't let them consider it a work device.

Check and see if your company offers a pretax commuting flexible spending plan. If they do, you can make the argument that they facilitate people having to commute to work, so they should facilitate people having to telecommute.

Asking for a friend:
My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.
