I am a manager at Delta Air Lines and a machinist by trade. I am looking at changing careers. I have 18 years with the company with a mixture of machining, engineering, and managerial/leadership skills.
Does anyone have suggestions on where would be good place to start in my search for a comparable career? I've heard project management and manufacturing engineering. Any other recommendations?

Nothing illegal or fishy here. Thanks!

What are your client follow-up/communication policies or practices? I’m hearing more and more that clients don’t like the long periods of time with little to no contact. From my perspective, since I bill for my time, unless I have an update or need something, I don’t initiate a call. Also, clients hold on to important info and don’t initiate a call cause they’re waiting for me to communicate with them.

The plant manager doesn’t know my skills so anytime I’m in the office working he calls me to the floor to do something the other techs can do. Should I have a talk with the boss about it?
