Why would you be stressed?
Probably because he/she is a new grad nurse. I think as a new grad (and I'm in nursing school now), I'd be stressed and nervous over any new intervention.
I’ve been a nurse for 28 years. I promise you, the stress goes away to a point. Having to give blood can be time consuming and depending on the acuity of your other patients, the time management involved could still cause stress. However, the procedure itself gets easier and stress free.
Your with your preceptor, no reason to be stressed. Just let them know how you feel about giving blood and they will coach you thru it
As you gain experience you will feel for confident and less anxiety. Remember the basics: prioritize who is the most critical first. If one patient has symptoms from blood loss, treat them first. The one who is stable is 2nd. Just think about the ABCs.
It would be more concerning if you don’t get stressed or anxious. You’re learning and that is lifelong if you stay in nursing. Just take a deep breath. You will be fine. Give it time. 😉
It does, I used to feel the same way. The more often you do it the easier it gets. Just remember to double check the blood and make sure to give the premeds if they need them. 😻
*Bone…. 🤦♀️
