I am at the end of my rope. I have been litigating personal injury cases for the past 5 years and I have concluded that this line of work is not for me. I wake up every morning full of dread and feeling hopeless and paralyzed. I don’t see any way out. I could really use some suggestions regarding a change.

I feel the same way as you, and I’ve been doing it for the exact same amount of time. I gave my two weeks notice yesterday without anything lined up. Call me crazy, but nothing is worth that feeling. I’m done, I have no clue what is to come— but I know it will be better than living the way I was. I wish you all the luck!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. Been in insurance defense for 5 years and I know this is not for me but don’t know how to get out

I agree with the above. I’ve found defense side less stressful.

I’ve been practicing in both big law (many yrs ago) and now in-house for over 10 years. Quite often I struggle because I don’t find work fulfilling. I’ve been in industries that allegedly have greater cause (healthcare) but was eventually disappointed by the corporate bureaucracy and went to a cutting-edge tech company for intellectual stimulation. Still I struggle. Should I try public interest? Not that I don’t need the money but it’s hard to work when I am so detached and find it meaningless
