I’ll make this quick. Your business school isn’t a target for BB/EB recruiting and assuming you didn’t do a summer internship in IB, you’re well behind the pack for FT seats. This isn’t to say your chances are zero but you’re definitely looking at an uphill battle, particularly in this market.
In terms of advice I’d say this is a good start. Your way in will come down to networking. See what, if any, alumni are in IB and willing to talk.
You will have to network relentlessly coming from BU and find ways to demonstrate a legitimate interest in IB through your MBA experience
Go Terriers! But seriously you should target boutique firms in Boston or companies like TD, state street, etc. Not the best recruiting options up there.
What I am seeing in job portals banks like Societe Generale, JP Morgan, Deutsche Banks etc have opened their gates to hire summer analysts under their Graduate Programs. You need to explore their career websites to check such kind of opportunities. You might get something.
I would do both. Check out career websites and network.
Your best bet is to reach out to every BU alum on LinkedIn or go to the beanpot final
Try to Lower Middle Market (LMM) banks in Boston (G2 is has a decent rep, and other places like that). Alternatively your life isn’t over if you don’t get into IB right after graduation. You could always try to get a Corp development role and then transfer to LMM bank, then move your way up from there. It’s definitely a slog, but 100% possible if you have great grades, and other relevant skills. If you definitely want to do IB, you can / should study for and pass the Finra SIE exam.
