What did you do before becoming a BDR? For some, it’s their first job out of college, for others, they make the leap from a completely different industry. What did your path look like and what advice would you give to someone looking to make the move?

I’m one of those who “ended up” in sales. I had just graduated college with a completely different degree and no idea what I wanted to do. I just wanted to make money…. (Of course not what I said in interviews 😉) Luckily it worked out and now I can’t picture myself doing anything else.

I finished college a couple years ago, but started in Sales only 8 months ago after 5 years in marketing and events (mostly agencies and corporate). I stopped doing in-person events with the pandemic, got into digital marketing, didn’t like it (and liked the pay even less). I gave Sales a try and that’s how I made the switch. No regrets so far.

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. The billable hours and lack of work life balance are really getting to me and I am looking to switch to something else out of litigation, preferably in house. I am also looking to relocate to a different state. How do I go about properly marketing myself to companies that might not take my relocation and minimal experience seriously?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?
