Niko, it's your cousin

@OP you're just a 2nd year Associate. Stop whining when being assigned tasks appropriate for your level. I don't mean any disrespect, but these tasks are what are expected for 2nd year associates. Early promotion is all circumstantial. Sometimes you get lucky and have the opportunity to prove yourself capable, but other times the work just isn't there. Just perform your best on the areas you control and you'll get more technical areas in due time. Also your certifications here shouldn't matter. I doubt that just because you're a CPA you could audit a complex business acquisition or multiple deliverable revenue recognition contract. Complex areas take experience and exposure. You'll get them in due time.
OP - are you the only culturally diverse person that has been assigned these "admin" jobs in the past on your job? Or are you just using your diversity as an excuse? These jobs all sound like positions most associates take on... being Hispanic or not, cpa/cfa etc or not. The majority of people don't judge your intelligence entirely on the titles you've earned, you actually have to prove yourself. You sound like you have a very inflated ego and should consider taking a step down from this pedestal you're on. The most intelligent people I know don't boast about their own intelligence, nor make excuses for others not realizing their agility.
... what are you still doing in audit?
Sounds like regular 1/2nd year work to me. Stop whining and just do those jobs. And do them excellently.
PwC Op the way you describe the audit procedure. You will stuck on associate position for a long time. Work is work whether it is small or big. So stop bitching on your certifications 😎😎🤓🤓
Get over yourself and stop worrying about it so much. Sometimes you just delegate to whoever has the time available or who already had the contacts. Stop over analyzing. Get to work.
Asking for more work and bitching about admin tasks are different. If you are getting your stuff done and requesting more challenging work on top of it, that's good. Do that. And keep asking. When an opportunity comes up you'll have your chance to sink or swim. But if you complain because you think something is beneath you, you will drown in this industry. You will be seen as arrogant and no one will want to work with you. We had someone who was good but thought she was a manager as a senior and tried to delegate everything she saw as "below her" to everyone else and people refused to work with her. She ended up leaving.
The story was totally relevant and was not negative. This person was giving you good advice. You sound like a nightmare to work with.
Let's circle back (heh) to the beginning. You start by telling us you're Hispanic and then complain that the work you're being given isn't worthy of you. You seem to be implying, none too subtly, that you're being held back because of racism. Well. Many here have pointed out that you're being given work appropriate to your level, but your responses suggest that you don't agree. Your CPA is expected and the CFE may not be relevant on your engagements. So if you're sure that you're being held back deliberately, are there any reasons that have nothing to do with racism? I know that at BT, getting better assignments has as much to do with soft skills as technical ones. Are you ready to mentor? Do you take criticism well? Do people want to work with you or for you? When you're given one of these assignments you don't like, how do you react? With enthusiasm or silence? Believe me, if you're discontented, unless you're a great actor, most people will know. They might not "fire a frown," but they also won't help him. Finally, consider office culture. For instance, at mine, people are almost painfully polite. If you're abrupt, you're seen as maybe not quite fitting in. Consider all that, and if you're sure that you're golden, ok, go ahead and call your coworkers disgusting racists.
God you are annoying.
Dear OP. When you crush these tasks you will get other tasks. That's how it works. Can be still tier 1 with these tasks
People are assuming you are arrogant because you sound arrogant. A senior still doing confirms sounds like that was the senior's fault. A senior should be determining who works on which areas for the most part with some tweaking from the manager/sr manager. If you feel like you want to try new things, have you discussed with your senior/manager rather than going to the partner? The partner humored you, but doesn't want to hear that the staff 2 is dissatisfied with the areas that they have been assigned. He/she's got other things to worry about and it sounds arrogant of you that you would take it up with them.
Damn bro you got tore up in here. But they may be right. You are a 2nd year. Just do your time and don't throw your certifications in people's faces, you sound arrogant. As a Hispanic myself, I hope you reach your goals.
@OP you speak so highly of yourself and can't even use proper grammar. Your sentences sound like they're spoken in broken English.
The only advice @OP says is good is the one where they are told it isn't their fault. Also if it makes you feel better, I assumed you were a girl. Because they are mostly the ones I have felt with that are being as self righteous and petty as you are. And I'm a girl so am I discriminating against you? Are you going to tell everyone I'm sexist? I can tell you right now I would give you so much bullshit work if I was your superior simply because you think you're above it. This jobs is about paying your dues when you're at the bottom. The better you do that and build relationships the farther and more opportunity you'll be given. If you refuse to see that the only person and career you're hurting is you and yours so take the advice in this feed or don't, but it doesn't impact any of us a damn bit.

Breaking into IB/ IMD takes more than just a Charter. Believe me.
2nd year. Yea I get the economics of the engagement. Its more about what is the thought process that goes into dividing areas between associates.
Has nothing to do with your race, I've met phds who tried doing audit and failed.
And it's nothing related to your race. So stop bring it up narrow minded nerd
OP: what office are you in?
