Please update me if you make any headway. Been applying for Cloud Solution Architect roles for the past 6 months as well, with no call backs. And this is with 6 years of experience at a Microsoft Solution provider.

What’s the salary average for a CSAM at Microsoft?
Microsoft is so weird. I’ve had no problem getting interviews with FAANG companies and other comparable big tech companies without referrals but for some reason I keep getting passed up by Microsoft too.
My best guess is Microsoft is more rigid about candidates meeting the exact criteria they’re looking for.
My experience still haunts me.
Especially when reading and hearing about the company being so big on the culture fit aspect.
I was referred by a friend, who then connected me to 2 of their coworkers. I got to meet with them both and one of them helped me with the interview prep to the same extensive amount my referral friend did.
Made it through all 3 interviewers, received verbal positive feedback at the end of all 3 rounds. Really connected with my interviewers and asked questions at the end about the culture of Microsoft (i.e. DE&I, work-life-balance, professional growth focuses, etc.)
Heard through the grapevine one of them had written in their notes that I was a "diamond in the rough" (???).
But 3 days later, on a Saturday morning, I received a rejection email. It ended by saying the interviewers thought I "would be a good employee for Microsoft," but they went with a different candidate "based on business needs".
I reached out to the recruiter and one of the interviewers, who I had connected with after sending them a follow-up 'Thank You' email. Neither of them ever responded.
My friend did my best to help me find closure, but I still lose sleep over it tbh
I wouldn’t be ‘dying’ to work as a CSAM. Just left that role after a year. You will be bored but the pay and WLB is decent.
I do not have a PMP. I come from a military background, and prior to joining MS, I was a contractor for 9 years as a SysAdmin, and eventually moved into Service Desk Management. I’m ITIL heavy with my certs, along with AZ900 and M365 Fundamentals.
I had an offer for that exact role over a year ago. Seemed like a cool job but I turned it down because the pay wasn't competitive compared to my comp at that time
Do you know if they are hiring english speakers in Europe? Currently in France right now and I have been contacted by Amazon and Microsoft several times but unfortunately language is an issue.
Indeed it’s a great job role and a key person in the Account Team.
CSAM : Customer Success Account Manager.
I’ve heard major complaints from our hiring managers about disconnects with recruiting. Do you know anyone that can pass your resume directly to a hiring manager vs. submitting via referral in system? They should still submit in system referrals, but having someone advocate for you directly to HM is beneficial.
Yes I have a friend that is a EAE and works with CSAMs all the time. He always internally refers me. Not much else to do. It sits in the system until I either get ‘transferred’ or not selected. My resume has been reviewed and is good to go.
This is a great platform. I see that people have already reached out to you. Good luck!! The right position will fall right in your lap.
I’ve received interviews with Meta, Google, Netflix and the list goes on…with Microsoft no matter how much I meet the EXACT qualifications. My application seems to fall in a black hole. I don’t even get a system rejection.

Don’t stay somewhere you’re not appreciated and then regret it later. I don’t know you’re situation but I would recommend taking a look at what’s out there. With so many companies hiring right now you owe it to yourself.
What is CSAM ?

It's super competitive right now - don't take it too personally. You can either lower your expectations with Microsoft, or continue building up your experience elsewhere and come back to them later.
Might be worth having someone look over your application/resume or to help you with some practice interviews! Here are some good resources to help! https://applicant.joinleland.com/search/career/ProductManagement
