I am investing in a friend’s new wine bar and also helping him make the business plan. What makes a cool/good/unique wine bar to you? What features should it have to win from competition?

Fun tastings/educational events with distributors.

Good selection of tastes, small pours and large pours.

Good selection of "everyday wines" and super fancy coravin wines.

Pre-selected flights (reds, whites, roses, bubbles).

Great food pairings. My favorite wine bar has a huge bruschetta menu with a super-wide variety of delish food.

There’s a wine bar here in Houston called “Roots” that has a wine vending system that doesn’t require bartenders. It’s super user friendly and efficient since it’s manages the pours and also provides knowledge about the wine.

I think this offer is well below par, but curious to hear what you guys think/if you have any comparisons?

Thanks in advance :)

Is it just me or are there entirely too many people in Business Services, specifically TC’s, who are just folks from client service that don’t want to deal with hours and travel anymore but have no formal training in the Business Services function they transition to? It seems to me very few TC’s are professionals in HR with any background, training or certifications in HR.

Hi I have asked to be an advisor for a startup. Its in its very early stage pre pre-seed. Its looking like weekly strategy calls and possibly some executional work as well. Like building out a sales process and/or training sales and marketing team members (this might be 1-3hr a week of work).

They are offering 1.5-3.5%. — I am wondering if that’s enough.

In addition to this the founder mentioned that he would like me to consider becoming a co-founder.
