They used your interview assignment as free labor.
I would hold their feet to the fire however by confronting them.
Maybe: "We've gone through XY&Z steps. What else do you need to make a hiring decision this week?"
Whether they used you to get a job done, or used an actual job as your interview process, you should be compensated and informed of your results. Seems like an unusual, non-typical interview tactic but maybe not in your line of work. And they didn't tell you anything in advance for fear of element of suprise forfeiture.
This is happening more and more. I've had interviews asking me to complete a 30/60/90 day plan, a business plan, and a Mission. All for free labor and ideas that were never going to amount to a job.
Be patient. There's a lot of applicants these days. Don't give up.
Be very forceful and direct. If you want this job close them as you would a client. If they want a presentation they may be looking for ideas. Whatever the interview process should not be more than 2 weeks for most sales position. You either have the experience passion and skill sets or you don't.
