I got admitted to full-time MBA Program at Wharton and so excited to explore what Wharton has in store!

Asking tips from you fishes - if you were enrolled in Wharton MBA, what major would you pick, and why?

I just learned that picking the Health Care Management (HCM) as a major goes hand-in-hand with your MBA application, so that may already be a lost cause for me.

Congratulations! Wharton would be a great experience.

Besides HCM (and Lauder, which is a different, dual-degree beast), your major at Wharton is inconsequential - besides a talking point when recruiting and networking - unless you're an international student who wants to pursue a STEM major. It's really just a collection of courses. Try to understand what you want to gain from the MBA - better analytical skills. Take more business analytics courses (and that will be your major). Environment and sustainability? You'll have plenty of courses to choose from (and they'll end up being either the BEES major or the new ESG-themed major).

Thanks a lot for the tips! This is super helpful. My current intended major in entrepreneurship, mostly due to Wharton SF, but I'm exploring if there are better options. Will relook at the electives in entrepreneurship just to reassure.

Why would it be a lost cause?

Wow I didnt know that's possible. Thanks for the tips!

Hello everyone ,
I’m currently working in insurance customer service at an agency. I work in the mortgage department assisting w mortgage changes , payments etc. I’ve been thinking about becoming a claims adjuster most likely for property damage . Is it worth it ??? Does where you get your masters degree matter? I’m in an online environmental science masters program at an expensive “name-brand” school, but have colleagues telling me I should transfer to a less expensive program to save $ because no one cares about where your degree is from. Aside from the cost of it, I like my program, and the fact that I’m now connected to an incredible alumni network. And not gonna lie, I like the clout. Thoughts?

I’m seriously contemplating taking a software development boot camp. For those who hire new software developers, does it make you stand out if you get your certificate from a university instead of a coding academy (like coding dojo or something)? I noticed the universities are a bit more expensive but is it worth the price to have a university on your resume or does it not really matter?
