I got three cases I would learn were outside my skill level. I had to schedule a meeting with him to state I was out of my depth and couldn't proceed. He was waiting for me to admit defeat? I had a cubicle and now get to have my own office where I will do felonies in superior court. There are other attorneys that have been there longer that are still in district court. I want to celebrate but I feel conflicted. Admit failure = promotion? How? Anyone else had this happen?

Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified? A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? About to turn down a job offer that would nearly double my salary after speaking to several former associates of the firm and hearing some not so great things.
