Had this same problem. Think the video above is really good— start with more of your weight on your front foot with your irons at setup. when practicing with irons, feel like the weight stays on the front foot throughout the entire golf swing. It’ll take time for it to feel more natural. Sounds like it’s all about breaking that mind connection to board sports, which will be uncomfortable for awhile.
Dropped from 90s to 70s without practicing / improving any other part of my game.
I am the same, but I think hips is more about how you’re rotating than the “direction” you’re rotating… when you say “way,” do you mean “slide” your hips during your swing? I used to struggle a lot with sliding my hips vs turning them around an axis… which causes reliance on perfect timing or it doesn’t work.
Thank me later

It feels so unnatural at first but with a good range session of swinging slow and reducing your backswing it will really pay dividends with all the clubs in your bag! Remember it’s rotation not swinging the arms that should be your foundation!
I set up 70/30 weight on my left foot (I’m a righty). But once I’m comfortable (find where my back foot should go) I return to a 50/50 weight dist. I try to keep my grip as strong as I can get it, promoting good forward shaft lean.
Ok now to your question. Once my initial set up is done, I make sure to bend my knees just enough (but not too much) especially putting more more bend on my left leg. (This will get the pressure back to 70/30). Backswing: right elbow tucked in, club path straight back, club head dips a bit behind me while my hands remain in front of my body (don’t sneak back). Head just behind the ball.
Here’s the magic— downswing: do not swing your arms. That will cause unintended body movements including sways and casting. Instead the two sensations are in sequence: 1- right arm extending down and 2- extending the left leg (remember when we bent our knees). Those two things will help you get in the “slot”, reverse K position, and finish through without too much effort. It also helps you compress and hit the ball (instead of just swinging at it).
Do those two magic steps slo-mo and you’ll feel your body moving correctly (with way less back pressure).
If you’re in ny metro, happy to catch a round.
