What do you want to be when you grow up? A technologist or a program/project manager? Two very different paths with very different outcomes. Do what you like - not for growth. Growth will happen when you do what you like.
Another question I have.... If I'm brought in knowing i lack the technical capabilities, isn't a lot of the project experience/training supposed to be supported by the company?
Obviously , i can accelerate this growth but why should I have to upskill myself before actually trying a project to see what I like?
I’m just curious how you made the jump. Did you build additional skills or leverage past experience to make the switch? Seems like a different career path and was wondering if you faced in any obstacles in making that switch.
Lol yeah
I applied for hundreds of jobs, it was my data, information systems, process improvement/efficiency and business use case development background that helped me make the switch. They also mentioned my interpersonal skills/good attitude was helpful as well
IMO, agile/PMP certification is more of credential that you can acquire at any point. However, you can build a career around cloud data & analytics by training in AWS/Azure’s data toolkit and grow into an analyst, data engineer or data scientist.
