Sorry to hear this and wish your the best. If you have short and long term disability, I would review the policy. For example, my policy will pay to help me (so they do not have to pay). Either way, I recommend you have an insurance and legal advisor if you are concerned about your employers reaction.
Make sure to check out the book “Could it be B12? An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses” and get your B1, B2, B6, B9, B12 levels checked - as well as your iron and potassium. A lot of times things get chalked up to aging when there are easy fixes (and massive long term detriments when not addressed). I had massive brain fog and neurological issues post covid but they basically disappeared when I went on B12 injections. I wasn’t diagnosed or anything, either. But do see a doctor and get referred to specialists if you see a pattern, but also realize that they aren’t knowledgeable about nutritional deficiencies for the most part.
I dealt with a similar issue last year. While it wasn’t the case for me, in my research I learned that many in the workforce are experiencing brain fog and executive dysfunction issues related to Long COVID. With the support of a doctor and some simple paperwork, it’s possible to get a number of temporary disability accommodations to support your needs. Examples might include someone to proof-read your work, a shift in certain responsibilities, reduced hours, increased flexibility in when you work, etc.
For what it’s worth, I’d recommend keeping this info to yourself for as long as possible.
