What should my requested salary be for a Senior Intelligence Analyst position with CrowdStrike ? I have a bachelors degree and 5 years of experience as an intelligence analyst. Current salary is 56k in NC, but when I was in DC I was making 86k (big locality change)… which makes me confused on what I should expect for a remote job.

You should look at doing contracting in the Government. It is a fast pace moving up and there are always jobs in all Government Agencies. Do you have a degree?
That’s what I thought but right now I really don’t think my education means much anymore. I have applied for a lot of different positions within my state as well city- I think its just hard these days.
Applying for government jobs, you need to make sure that your resume has all the major words in the job description. You have to use key words to get through the process at least to get on the refer list. I worked for the VA as a contracting officer, that is what I am doing for DOE. I have been a GS employee for over 35 years.
Oh I have looked into this as well and tailored my resume to majority of the jobs that I have applied for. I have been sent a ton of referral letters but quickly declined for whatever reason. I am at a loss. I also have paid for resume builders as well as AI to help me add in keywords and I feel, stuck…
Have you thought about moving into property management? You are likely to have transferable skills in customer services & client engagement.
Trust me, I know the feeling. I tried to get government internships while I was completing my IT degree, but even those asked for experience. Entry-level jobs aren't entry-level
They are not, I have looked into internships- which I am not able to take a non paid internship; I have bills and responsibilities like most. I have looked into other local resources that could give me a lead, reached out to a cybersecurity school. Just no response to most, very discouraging.
I feel the same way
Its a hard place to be and it feels never ending
My recommendation is:
1) Calm down, it is very hard to see clearly if you're upset and worried
2) Understand your emotions. Sometimes "the whole thing" is wrong is what we think, but there might be:
a) specific things about what you're doing that you don't like which you should de-focus for whats next. If you take those things away, ask yourself how everything else sums up
3) FOCUS ON YOU. I believe that we all have a specific set of interests and skills for a reason: we are meant to use them.
I believe in God and what I believe also is that our "traits" (as they relate to skills/work) are what we are supposed to use together in an occupation. For example, my wife is a scientist but I could not pay attention for one second to what she looks at; I believe I was not and should not think of doing those things, as well as other things that I can't pay attention to. Why? Because if I was designed with it inside, it would be easy/simple/no effort to actually pay attention, like it and spend time with it even when I don't have to.
I asked as similar question to myself around 2006/2007 and never felt better when I "straight eliminated" things I just did not like and couldn't even focus on.
I'm much happier today accepting "me" and have been able to live a very fulfilled life when focusing on the things I do best and do easily (aka "the things inside me").
Cool thing today: there are a lot of things that could help understand how to piece together all your interests closely to a specific job. One can be using google with your gathered thoughts about what you like doing (adding, "jobs that include" or "jobs where you..." and add your list). Could also try with ChatGPT, which should be able to piece together that itself.
Really hope you consider this and find excitement in pursuing what makes you happy. More (money, opportunity, etc) easily follows when you do things that enable you to be awesome, in how you are already built to be (not how someone else is built to be).
I appreciate it, I have used chat gpt and google to find something that would aline with my interests and goals. I really wanted to pursue my degree but no one will hire me without experience so I basically stopped hoping for that and just want to do anything else.
Make sure your resume lists any awards you have received. My job looks at that when we are comparing resumes For interviews. You might consider using the resume builder on USA jobs. Try to network and collect good professional references as well.
someone suggested starting with a government contractor, I second that. I was a contractor before I was federal It definitely helped
When I looked into the Student Trainee for contracting its only for students that are currently enrolled in college- I don’t qualify since I graduated in 2019; I appreciate the advice though 😊
Do you mind sharing your state
I am in Colorado
You're already a fed employee, stay with it. 1102 series always looking for folks. The 'hiring Freeze' does not count current fed employees from any department. 1102 requires 24 business credits, however there are also 'intern' programs. Ask your local folks for contacts at your NCO (Network Contracting Office) and ask them about the TCF program. It is designed to train you in the role, starting as a GS 5 and working in that program for two years becoming a GS 9 and a fully certified contract specialist.
Thanks- I believe I found a POC for my visn and sent an email. 🤞🤞🤞
