Hi everyone!
I've been offered a job at Publicis Sapient as a front-end developer (React Js).
What kind of work culture, work load and tech stack exposure should I be expecting?
I'm having 1 year experience.
I've also got offers from IndiaMART InterMESH Limited, Amdocs, Verizon and Collegedunia.
All for the role of front-end web developer.
I'm very confused between all of them.

Congratulations!! I’m starting a fully remote role soon, too! My biggest advice is to make time for coffee calls! Bring in the personal, share the weekend stories, talk to people at work about life outside of work. It will make the day to day more exciting and help you build relationships for the future. And embrace WFH life!! Take a short walk during the day, do chores in between meetings, etc. you’ll do great!
Congratulations on the new role. The biggest things are discipline and accountability. You also want to make sure you’re touching base with team members. Good luck!
Get yourself a good chair and a standing desk! Totally worth the investment.
My advice is to get ready for your day in the same way that you would if you were reporting into an office.
No straight from bed to the computer days. That doesn’t mean you must dress business professional, but make a point to change into respectable clothing for your work day. Be prepared to take a video call at any point during your work hours.
Treat you’re home office as a separate place from the rest of you’re home and act as if you’re at work when you are in that room (leaving for lunch, bathroom breaks, etc, but spending the bulk of your day in that room “at work”.
That’s what’s been working for me, and this is coming from doing it all wrong for all of 2020 until I finally figured out what worked for me and brought my productivity back up to my old self.
Congratulations!! Remote is amazing! It will require organization and discipline. Most remote roles are active on Teams/Slack, etc so be active on those as well as turning on your cameras (if you’re comfortable doing that) for meetings. Build connections with your manager, teammates, etc. Also, create boundaries. My transition from on-site/hybrid to virtual took a little bit to get used to but I 100% would want to be in a remote role long term. I was working long/late hours and didn’t know when to shut off the work day. Create boundaries and breaks to help you regroup and make the work day an effective one.
You got this! Enjoy it!
Very helpful! Thank you! I’m super excited. My commute was 4+ hrs sometimes so I get the long/late days.
Awesome! Get a really comfy office chair and desk! Spend the extra money to have the best because you’re gonna spend a lot of time using it. Also, have a specific space that you only do work in so that you can separate from it when you are done with work.
100%, if you use a dual office/living space, burnout feeling can come up quick
Congrats I agree with all of these great suggestions. Ive been working remote for about 3 years and time blocking has been one of my greatest friends for organization.
We have an open calendar policy at the company I work for and I try to put a 15-30 minute little coffee chat on someone in another department's calendar so I can build relationships across the org.
Also highly recommend scheduling time for a walk or break. It can be so easy to get in the thick of it and forget to move your body :)
Thank you! I like the time blocking!
Love working remotely! Be productive and hit your numbers and walk away from your work area after you are done in terms of work hours
Get that work from home stipend!!! Have the office pay for your home office! Haha
If they haven’t already mentioned one, ask if they have a WFH equipment stipend and use as much as possible if you need it or not!
I’ve worked from home for 20 years for various companies. Dressing each day in business casual, being prepared to be on video calls, and engaging with my group on Teams has helped maintain that semblance of the work office. Get a comfortable office chair, check your background that others on video calls can see to keep yourself and environment looking professional. I use a ring light and have a simple art piece on the wall behind me along with my Bachelors degree in a frame. If you have kids or pets at home while you’re working, try to limit those external noises by shutting the door to your office. A standing desk is helpful and don’t feel bad for taking a “coffee” break or leaving your desk for lunch! Remind yourself of what typically happens in a standard office with interruptions at your desk, water cooler breaks, etc. You’re entitled to a break also! 😊 Or just get up and stretch by walking around the block! Helps with circulation and mental focus. Best of luck!
Thank you! I’ve looked into those standing desks 😍
Schedule yourself in your workday. So take breaks, take a lunch and make time to workout or go for a walk. It will keep you mind and body healthy! Congrats!
Thank you!!!
Definitely get an ergonomic setup, set healthy work boundaries and block your calendar for meals and breaks.
Make time to leave! I struggled at first with being home all week. Now I fit in workouts in between my work.
I find working from home to be really lonely. Try to set up lunch with a friend whenever you can to get out and talk to people.
Ditto on the schedule… you need work life balance. Also reach out to your team to form relationships even if it is a 5 minute casual talk. As a leader in the weeds I have appreciated the new folks that try to make connections. Sometimes folks are so buried it is hard to reach out.
Thank you!!!
Have a dedicated office or desk area. That way you can focus and not get distracted by being home.
