I have my performance review tomorrow and I’m supposed to find out if I’m getting a merit raise. (Maybe 3%) 🙄 I think my skills and contributions to the team this year have been exceeding expectations. Am I being too forward by going prepared with a 5 min PPT showing that at my current salary I’m underpaid compared to market and level of experience? I’m providing salary data and specific accomplishments that support my reasons for an increase. Thoughts? Are there better strategies?

I absolutely think you should do this. Even if it doesn't get you a better raise, atleast you tried. I do this every single year when it is time for annual increases.

I'm not sure that would be well received. A lot of organizations will take the position that they don't care what other people are paying. You may be better served focusing your case on yourself, and perhaps only referring to market data as a sidelight to your main argument. It might be better to focus on how you're a more valuable worker than you were some time ago, and because you've grown in the job your compensation should be updated to reflect that.

Yes that’s what I plan to do. I have my own accomplishments and skills that I will speak to so that I can say why I deserve the increase, not just about market values.

No, you're not being too forward. What I do on a regular basis (daily) is I keep a meeting for me that goes over tasks that I need to work on or are currently in work and completed, I do that every weekday, updating, and separate years. I hand over a list to my manager, prior to my review, to let them know, because they don't always see it.

You want them fully aware of what you're doing , but beyond that, You're telling your manager that You know exactly what you've accomplished in the last year and why you deserve more than 3%, or the minimum.

TCS Hr revised my ctc to 27.5lpa from 24lpa for C3A band & shared ctc break up. I negotiated asking him to revise the fixed comp to 26lpa & JB. My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. How do you bill your time? The busier I am the harder it is to bill. How do people actually bill contemporaneously in detailed terms when you bill 12 hours but literally did 100 different things in those 12 hours. And it’s never slow enough to go back and do it super detailed.

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
