Lol this will be great for the turnover problem
I saw it on my group every 2 weeks
Guess you’re not aware that managers and up get a copy of your utilization weekly/monthly depending on the group at PwC lol
My entire group got these weekly and we got them for the whole region monthly before the restructure
They do this at EY now.
I don’t know why everyone takes this so negatively. In our office it’s actually really helpful because we can see who is working a lot and spread the work to people not working as much. Some people don’t speak up for themselves and this helps us help them. We don’t use it to shame people, but more use it to make sure we don’t have burnt out workers who quit.
Same at PWC or maybe it was just for my group
Yeah last year this went to everyone in a certain group before the new equation. My deployment team completely changed and I haven’t seen it this year, but it would be helpful to have as a senior manager to manage workload
Curious why people think this is a bad thing?
Probably dodging work, why else would you care if others see how much you’re working. Not like there’s anything to hide if you’re busy

Just to clarify, the Andersen person that told me this said it goes to the entire office, from associate to partner, not just management.
This isn’t unusual- our whole team got a sortable report once a week.
Our team tried once (sending utilization email to everyone) but ppl don't like it. So now only manager and up can see the utilization report. It would be helpful if they can put salaries also on that sheet for two way transparency 🤣
They did this when I worked at Deloitte. I wonder if this is just service line specific. Can other people who worked at Deloitte confirm?
Maybe it was just the office partner in charge of my service line. If our utilization was low, our name would be highlighted in yellow. They didn't send out that email during busy season though.
They send out a weekly hour report in my office for everyone at the senior level and up
Coach
That would be insane
True to an extent - Managers and above receive a daily productivity report, and those with low chargeability or available hours do at times get highlighted
What office is she? It could be - Seniors and below receive a monthly utilization report but it only shows your individual stats and then a “peer average” for comparison
We used to get a utilization report for every partner and staff in the U.S. I work with staff on different teams across the country, so this was very helpful because, if I saw that they had very high utilization, I could check in on them and ask if they needed help. I guess someone complained about this report being distributed, so even as an MD, I can no longer get the report.
Same for my region at EY, goes to everyone. When I was at GT they did the same thing.
Yeah Northeast AWM tax gets a Utilization report that has everyone’s info. Most like it
I’d like to see that report
There’s no actual yellow highlights on it, but with every report you can easily filter the hours people are working. I found it helpful - always aim to be middle of pack at my level. For staffing its helpful to know if certain associates are being more utilized than others and I can shift projects around. Can definitely see why it would cause anxiety but don’t think its anything to really worry about.
Yes it’s true
This is done weekly at CLA, on Tuesdays. A production report is circulated stating individuals budget hours, hours worked, hours over/under, and utilization.
I was under the impression this was SOP for all accounting firms. The production report has everyone in the state listed - 7 different offices or so.
It leads to a lot of anxiety and stress.
I hated this when I was in big 4. The problem is that some people work on huge clients/projects where all time is billable and timesheets are a basically 8-10 hour blocks. Same thing for those who work on contingent fee projects. Those who work on lots of smaller clients/projects with tight budgets always looked less “productive” even if they worked more total hours.
