What’s the average salary range for a GAS?
Hi
Can anybody tell mw what will be inhand

How much will be in hand ?

Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).

You just realized this now? My AE'S OTE is $315-$325 and I'm almost positive their base is $157 since it's 50/50. My ote is $190 and these bozos think that I am their secretary and personal assistant. They don't know Jack about our products and just spew bs to the customer and then I laugh and have to correct them. It's embarrassing that you don't have to know anything to be an AE about the product you are selling.
Pretty typical for AEs to make more, but with lower base (50/50 split). SEs are usually 70/30-80/20 so we have less variability. As an AE that transitioned to SE, the quality of life is so much higher I don’t really mind the slightly lower upside
Omg I recently found out the same about mine and I was floored. It literally makes no sense why a person who doesn't have any technical training would make so much more than us.

Right, unless you have extensive industry experience that could bring in clients, it doesn’t make sense!
I’d like to preface my note by saying I completely understand the feeling that the technical skillset should be rewarded. That being said, it’s also naive to ignore the sales methodology based skill set that is also required. You may have it as well. In which case, maybe you can be the AE or a sales leader.
The business acumen is something that also matters.

Idk. I feel like I could write emails and give the 10 minute company overview at the start of a call too..
I don't think that is fair.... their job is more leveraged and riskier. Also bear in mind the amount of doors they get slammed in their faces before we even get involved.
By that time it us a more pleasant process.

I’m honestly leaning more towards it every day. I find that whenever I go to events and just act normal with customers, it tends to lead to a lot more interest/better convos rather than trying to suck up to them.
I could never do what the AEs do. They work their asses off morning to night. It's all obnoxious busy work too; prospecting and emails and follow up and Salesforce updates and meetings—all the meetings. Talking to people because they like it, having charisma and personality, being a weird sales douche with no self awareness (respectfully). Sales manager always looking over their shoulder, scrutinizing their whole strategy. Giving them shit for slow quarters, making them feel like their job is on the line every single day.
Pay those people all the money, because I certainly ain't stepping up to take that abuse. It's usually also much more commission focused, so in the enterprise space, some AEs could go months or even years between big wins. Meanwhile, they're getting by on scraps, hoping they don't get fired or laid off before that next deal closes.
Granted, before I become an SE, I said I would never work in sales. But I honestly don't think I could do the job of an AE, and I wouldn't dream of wanting to matter the comp. It ain't for me.
