She doesn't know it's a lifestyle #grannystatus
I am soooo with you, OP! My flats and cardigan game is just too strong. 👵
This offends me greatly as a woman. I look professional yet not provocative. I guess we are still in an era where clients hire us and promotions are based upon appearance and not brains and work. And no, I'm not afraid of it, I just prefer to look professional over cute/sexy while at work. And btw I had a manager tell me years ago in a written review that I looked good at the client. Needless to say that was not well received and he got in trouble for it. Wake up ppl, it's not all about clothes and looks.
P1 and associate 1 are the reason I choose to look professional over cute and sexy. I save cute and sexy for going out with friends and dates.
Was told to switch up cardigans and flats for dresses and heels...cackled as I bought more sweaters
OP- you do you. I think clients like to see a mix of people, not just the pencil skirt drone. When I took the job at ACN, my friends laughed and laughed about how I would have to buy pencil skirts and 4 inch 👠. Never did happen. Pay her no mind. Rock whatever gives you joy.
I have never heard "daring" as the ideal adjective to describe the preferred dress code in a business setting. This is not Project Runway.
If you like dressing up like a grandma, do it. If you think, being more daring would make YOU feel better, do it! What's important is that you're happy and comfortable in what you wear to work everyday, and it's professional and presentable.
@EY2 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Omg. Not seriously? I would have laughed straight in her face. Then I might just quit. Who gave you that "talk"? Why would daring be better?
It was a senior (I'm an associate). I think she thought I had low self esteem because I dress like a grandma
Associate 1. I'm not disputing that. I'm saying I choose to look professional because I respect myself and don't see a need to dress cute and sexy to get men to respect me at work. Respect me at work for the work I do and my professionalism. And I don't think it is appropriate to ask a woman to dress cuter, more daring or sexier at work.
Who gave you this talk ?
😝
"This ass" 👍🏼
Ha EY2 if you think other guys don't think the same, remember, this is what all men think like, whether they say it or not... even your friends
That I agree with, i never respect people (men or women) that don't dress professionally
To clarify, she told me that to encourage me to dress in whichever way I felt comfortable because she assumed I was trying to tone down for the office. I dress in a way that's professional but also warm and comfortable (basically cardigans and flats) so I can see why she thought that.
