Amex Platinum

like

Amex plat for me too. I canceled with CSR after they messed up multiple times on a solo international trip that I took and after a terrible exchange with a rep. I asked what I'm paying the annual fee for if they can't fix an issue that came from booking things through them (aka confirm I have a flight ticket for the next day...booked ahead of time and no ticket found but they told me to call the airline myself) and was told that I'm paying for the use of the card. Wtf. Amex has been smooth and helpful. I wish they were accepted everywhere though so have a non-Amex backup.

CSR. They gave me a $150 statement credit so in addition to the $300 grocery/travel rebate it was free for the year. Plus $60 off dashpass so came out positive this year. Will see how next year goes

like

How did you get the $150 statement credit?

I love my chase sapphire reserve

like

The big benefit to the Plat card is the Centurion Lounge access- I've had both and the CSR is a better all around card in my opinion, but since I frequent the lounges I stuck with the Amex

like

The Points Guy llooooveeesss Chase Sapphire. He knows his stuff, so I would go with him.

like

Don’t trust those bloggers! They peddle the cards which give the best referral bonuses, which may not be best interest of consumers .

like

I’d say wait a few weeks before you apply for either of those. New promotions are bound to be announced for both. AMEX has said they would add additional benefits in 2021- not sure what though. Also the streaming/cellphone/internet credits are set to expire in two days - we’ll have to see if those are extended to next year.

I own Platinum as well as Sapphire Preferred, so I’d advice you to look for the changes in the next two weeks before you make a decision.

like

This is helpful- thank you!

like

If you have other cards (personal or corporate) in the AMEX universe then platinum would be a no brainer but otherwise they’re pretty comparable. The lounge access from Platinum is great to have but there’s other pros for Chase.

Tdlr two great options really can’t go wrong

like

What other cards do you have?

If it's about general points earning I suggest the Amex Green. Same earnings structure as reserve but with less perks/fee.

If you value perks though Plat is a good choice

As a platinum owner, get the reserve

Platinum. Let me refer you :)

It is all depending on what you want to redeem your rewards for.

Are you shooing for Economic or business seats across the ponds? For economic, both cards are fine, for business seats, I suggest platinum and Amex gold combo. Transfer the Amex point to ANA to redeem Star alliances J class round trip to Europe for 88k points. Another important points is what is your spending pattern? Amex platinum is flat 1 point per dollar with exceptions on airfares directly booked with airlines. While Chase CSR has several bonus categories.

like

Amex

go for the sapphire unless you know you’ll use all of the platinum side benefits like the uber credit, saks credit, etc

Hi Folks,
This is regarding income tax proof submission.
I Joined UST on Nov'21 and before UST I was not under any tax slabs. I had only 1 LIC premium being deducted on monthly basis. Though I declared the LIC amount from April 2021 to March 2022. I have still got LIC statements till Dec2021 only.
Also planning to invest in ELSS and term insurance by Jan end. While i only submitted LIC in investment declaration form.
Can someone guide me what will be the process henceforth?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
