I need some advice on my next steps after being laid off. It’s a bit complicated but for 5 month out of this past year I was forced to give up my billable hours in order to help “load balance” our team. I went from billing 100% to 58% (safe zone). Billable hours were given to other team members who didn’t have work. This was designed to help average out hours to prevent layoffs. I agreed to do this but felt it was unethical and would affect my performance review. How would you approach HR?

I had one of those VERY nonproductive days today. I think I accomplished maybe an hour of billable work, even though I had a bunch of stuff to do. I just came off a 300 hour month, and unexpectedly got a continuance on a deadline on Wednesday, and it’s like all of my motivation leeched out of me at once.

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. Hello all. My company just went through an acquisition and the company did some restructuring of job titles. When they did this we were all advised the company would be making sure our jobs pay aligned with the national average.
My issue with this is my job title went from a Technical Support Supervisor to a Customer Success Team Lead. I have voiced my concerns with management but have been advised job titles are semantics. In my eyes this is a demotion, and will affect how much my job is worth.
