I previously posted here that I thought too much screen time was causing a lot of issues including adhd symptoms. So I finally took a real break about a couple of weeks ago. And my life did get better. (Surprise!). More in comments

It took me going to a meditative retreat for a long weekend to force myself to turn off the phone for a few days, preceded and followed by a strict no or low media policy. Which was tough for me - but I did it. And the results spoke for themselves. I got a lot more business, completed some long avoided tasks, and feel like I was able to get my head back in the game. While the afterglow of the peaceful weekend is fading, I’m back online with more intention and less scrolling. My partner and I are winding down with a big jigsaw puzzle instead of with a screen. And things are all just a bit more sane. Worth a try if you fell into the same thing - especially vague anxiety with procrastination.

I think it’s especially important to reduce media now in the US with all this political drama. Following what’s going on is just a time suck that adds stress and no value unless you’re going to get involved. Just vote. And sleep well.

Thank you for sharing this OP and I am glad you did because I have often wondered how affected I am by my screen time. I think it is part of the reason that I struggle to sleep every night whick then screws up my entire day because I am tired and can't focus.

like

Thanks for sharing that! Feel my screen time has been causing a lot of time waste for me. Legit question- do you think your lower screen usage and getting more stuff done could be a temporary placebo effect? Or do you really think screen time was preventing you from accomplishing so much?

like

Both. Of course it’s a time suck but it l think the dopamine hits of scrolling also affect my performance

I added a screen time limit to my most used apps (Tik Tok especially) and I went from avoiding all chores to being more on top of them. Scrolling mindlessly would clutter my brain and add additional items to stress about all day. I don’t know if I’m in a place where I can stop using my phone but definitely am working towards it bc it has definitely been increasing my quality of life.

Update: it’s not easy avoiding screens but im glad to see this reminder

Maybe this is the socialist in me but shouldn’t Moderna and Pfizer waive their patent exclusivity for their Covid vaccines? Don’t we have a moral obligation for the world to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible?

It blows my mind that many countries won’t be able to vaccinate most of their people until 2023. There should be access to vaccine generics

They are saying they will have to do special PGT tests if we are carriers of the same disorder. I am confused. I thought this type of testing was optional and usually recommended if you are using a donor. My guess is that they are booked and pushing me to the Jan cycle. Thoughts?

I wanted to start a thread. What vitamins / supplements / medications are you taking for your menopause symptoms? The same goes for my multivitamin although I’m sure I really need one! I wonder if I should just use natural remedies like Black Cohosh, but that didn't work well for me.

Additional Posts in ADHD Consultants

My psychiatrist today revealed to me that I may have ADHD, still a hypothesis that he is still exploring but from my personal experiences and discussions with therapist, it seems likely.

One example of personal experience is my ongoing prep for case studies as I'm interviewing with a number of firms. I do struggle to keep focus and generally take a bit longer to finish them, specifically the structuring of the case. Does anybody else feel the same way and any recommendations to overcome this?

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)
