Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

Not an offer nor a rejection. Just that the office hit their hiring targets already.
Definitely appreciate the advice BCG1 and BCG2. I would love to network with you both if you are willing. I’ll send you both an IM, thanks in advance!
I had that happen at BCG and they really did reach back out when they said they would.
Lol fair enough, thank you D1. I’ll keep my skills sharp just in case.

I had something similar happen to me with a different firm. I interpret it as a soft way to let you down so that you may reconsider them later when you've improved your skills and experience elsewhere.

I had something similar happen during MBA recruiting and was told they hit targets already but to apply again in a few months for full-time and I would skip right to final rounds. I ended up not doing it, but could be similar for you.
Regardless, if you’re interested I would probably just stay in contact with some people and see what next steps would be in a few months.
Same happened to me. Wasn’t sure what to make of it either and assumed it was a polite rejection, but it also doesn’t seem like they’d need to softly reject people (why not just outright reject like any other company and just encourage to apply in the future). I took it as they genuinely do not have a current hiring need for my skillset but could see where they might in the not so distant future and I’m a strong candidate so pointless to outright reject since that sends a different message.
Agreed, I assumed the same thing but these comments have made me feel a lot better. Also I looked up actual BCG rejection emails on google and they are a lot more brutal so I’m definitely grateful I wasn’t just outright rejected. We will see my friend! That could be where we end up in the not so distant future.
I was told that basically all of the offices in the Northeast region hit their hiring goals for A and C. Still recruiting for PL save Pr though
Most of above is correct. You prob are an experienced hire (aka not out of school hire). We’ve pretty much hit our non campus numbers for the year (most offices in North America) and with recession possibly coming, we are holding off on recruiting until we have more visibility to 2023. Targets will also reset in 2023 so you have a fresh slate
I don’t think that’s an offer I’d imagine..
Yeah I realize it’s not an offer, just seems like an odd rejection
