So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I wouldn’t trust a verbal offer from Tesla, even if it came from Elon Musk. Hell, he could tweet about it and draft up a formal offer and there’s still a good chance he’ll sue you to back out after the market retracts…
I wouldn’t hold your breath given the company’s track record with verbal promises for self driving, Cybertruck, etc etc.
Recruiting at Tesla is an internal disaster (I previously worked there). It’ll eventually get done but may take some time.
I used to work there for a couple years. It happened before where some recruiters are so slow with those things to people I knew that were interviewing
There are several layers of internal approvals that occur from verbal offer to when a candidate actually receives a drafted offer. Doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong just that hiring can be slow atimes at Tesla (just recently happened to a friend who got his written offer after 2 weeks). I’d say just continue to follow up with the recruiter.
Hoping all goes well for you 🙏🏾
This is normal. Things get delayed internally cause need a bunch of approvals. Work with your recruiter on a timeline.
They are more into tweets
The written offer finally came in two days ago, two weeks to the day from the verbal offer. I honestly wouldn’t have been too bothered by the delay, but the recruiter had told me when making the verbal offer that the written one would arrive within 1-2 days. So the longer things dragged out, the more worried I got.
For those curious, I was coming from a Big4 tax role. Comp at Tesla was more than double.
It’s a legal counsel role within tax, but my understanding of the job duties is that it’s more audit defense than anything else.

Wyd at Tesla?
Position and comp?
I wouldn’t trust a written agreement from Tesla, much less a verbal offer
