Bain & Company I recently graduated with an MBA from an Ivy League school. I received an offer from a top management consulting firm through campus placement. But just before I was about to join, it was rescinded due to unfavorable market conditions. Is it possible to break into management consulting outside of campus placement? I've heard that 80% of consultants enter the field this way.

If you’re coming from target school (Ivy) , use your campus group if possible.
Or find alumni at your target company and network
Yeah definitely tell the school. The firm can get into big trouble and banned from OCR

Not a top firm but then again the top firms didn’t pull offers either so…
Which firm rescinded??
What firm rescinded?
You can def break in after, the only issue is hiring across firms is small. Likely need a full year+ before firms recover a bit
Experienced hires come in all the time
But jobless delayed post grad hires?

Please name and shame! I’m shocked that MBB (I assume it’s MBB) would rescind offers, especially for top MBAs?
Don’t think it’s mbb, probably a small firm
Say it! Say it! Say it! Say it!
yeah i don’t get the reluctance to name and shame. they’ve already rescinded, it’s not gonna come back - loyalty does no one favors.
Who was it!!?
Is this kpmg?
It wouldn’t be KPMG, I know there was a very calculated effort to not rescind any offer. Start dates were moved out.
Which firm rescinded?! It likely means layoffs for one of the firms
i’m gonna guess OC&C or some other boutique that doesn’t have the headcount and scale to diversify out of niche strategy or CDD during times like this
OC&C US Office is expanding rapidly rather than laying people off/recinding offers. Definitely not OC&C
