I am so angry that we are going to waste 3K because of a mere matter of days due to internal BS.

If all you need insurance for is a stop gap / safety blanket then I’d purchase a cheap plan on the market place to cover you both until your Accenture coverage kicks in. It’ll be much cheaper probably about $300 a person for a month. I did this when I was in between jobs.

It takes effect the beginning of the following month, your current insurance should cover you until then. Typically all coverage lasts until the last of the month.
I'm confused. I've not heard of a school or employer of any type being able to force people to have insurance (only the federal government through Obama care tax penalties).
And they're saying they'll charge you 3k up front? I've also never seen premiums being due up front as a lump sum. If it's not a lump sum and you'd be paying monthly, your new insurance kicking in should qualify as a life events that enables you to change (or decline) existing benefits, or at least that's been the case for any insurance I've ever used.

Pretty common in the US - all students have to have a minimum level of health insurance to be enrolled just absolutely inconvenient that this happened right as she has to submit annual proof of insurance.
I would try to get a paper from HR or something similar. I dealt with that as well but could not get out of it...
