I find the flute lends more gravitas to the moment.
I like that, but fear it might come across as a touch boastful.

I only take zoom calls sitting shirtless at my drum kit.

I’ve got a guitar you can just about see on calls...
Can’t even play it. 🎸 💥
I have dusty old pictures of the kids I never see in my background and divorce paperwork under the Cannes lion award I got last year. Really shows my devotion to my job and the work.
You can see my Jazzmaster, deluxe reverb, and pedalboard in my background. Suck it nerds.

Is it all true bypass tho?

I placed my surfboard behind of me all the time, never ever had any comment on that.

Given what I do, there’s not many places in my house you could place a camera where it wouldn’t catch a glimpse of some musical instrument or other.
I’ve had Zoom meetings with CCOs, CEOs, CMOs of global brands, and I’ve never had a bad comment about my background.
If this is what you worry about, you must live a charmed life.
Don’t be sorry.

Op, I sorry you have no music talents. But remember you can always be a DJ.

Jokes aside. I don’t. And like everyone else said, I doubt that most people do or care. If you play guitar you know there’s a lot of consideration to where you put your guitar. For instance I take consideration if it’s too close to the heater, or if it’s taking direct sun light, things that can damage my instrument. So if it’s appearing on my zoom calls (and it does) is mere coincidence. I didn’t put the desk where it is just because of that.
The guitar came first, working from home was forced upon us and we had to make arrangements.
I know you just want to make a snarky comment about someone you got annoyed with. But from here it looks like you are projecting.

It’s the equivalent of an old person wearing a t-shirt that says, “Ask me about my grandchildren.”
(My coworker has one and it takes up the first five minutes of every vendor call.)
That’s goddamned funny. I know a couple of people who do that where I work.
My spouse is not a creative, he’s a consultant, and his guitar hangs on the wall where I decided it would hang. It’s used daily but I didn’t want it on the floor or leaning against things. It’s decor, not a boast.
If he’s in the den, yes.
They are my husband's guitars!!! And it's a one bedroom flat l, damnit.
Those crazy creative directors. How dare they do creative things aside from advertising.
I put empty vases on a shelf behind me with a framed stock photo next to them. It creates just enough intrigue to create a pause, but not enough for anyone to ask. I’m new 🤫
